3C Coffee Recipe

This is an old recipe I had to my first blog, long time ago… About 2 years or more. It was my first ever coffee recipe, and It was an inspiration of the moment that was a success. I will repost the recipe as it was with only a few additions and modifications, when needed. So although there is a great deal of reference to coffee as the first time, be aware that that there are a few recipes on coffee already. Also be the picture is not my own, it was a picture from the web, and I just added it temporarily here. Over the weekend I will make it again (I missed that nice flavor) and I will post complete step by step instructions. So before we start here is again a disclaimer that warns you.

The following recipe is one of the golden recipes and is registered to me by international laws of copyrights. You can use it, repost it on the web, but you are not allowed to publish it in books, use it for restaurants or other profitable businesses.

Coffee a good addiction! Did I say good? I meant GOOD!!! Many people have addictions from smoking to gambling to drugs.. (do I sound PBS commercial? or even worse like your mom? But hey drugs are addictive) well my addiction is coffee.

Coffee is the only beverage consumed worldwide with thousands of variations in flavor and preparation methods. It is one of the most powerful liquids in the world along with oil. It wakes up millions of people on daily base and powers them up for the day. Oh yes my friends… coffee is not just a black dark liquid. It is so many thing beyond that.

My quest in coffee was leading me always to invent and discover new flavors and new ideas in coffee. This one I call 3C and it is my favorite. It has 3 simple ingredients and therefore the taste depends a lot on the quality of the ingredients. The recipe that follows will yield about 16 oz (2 cups).

I grand you that, many of you do not have whole beans to grind every morning. That ‘s ok. Just use ground coffee about 3 tbsp the cinnamon and the cocoa.

IMG_1081.JPG

We put the coffee 4 tbsp in a coffe grinder. Mine has a detachable grinding cup.

IMG_1083.JPG

Measure 1/2 tsp of Vietnamese Cinnamon.

IMG_1084.JPG

And 1/2 tbsp of cocoa.

IMG_1089.JPG

Add them with the coffee.

IMG_1090.JPG

…and we grind them as usual. Before you open the grinder please let it sit for a minute or two just to avoid the dust from the cinnamon and cocoa.

IMG_1095.JPG

Add the water in your favorite cattle and heat it up to…

…boiling

This is my latest jewel and the most precious. Not due to the price, it is $2.95 only. But just because it is one of the simplest and most ingenious things ever conceived. Just a holder for the filter. It has a nice base to sit on every size mug.

IMG_1110.JPG

Just add the coffee and the freshly ground coffee. If you started with coffee grounds, just mix them with a spoon.

IMG_1111.JPG

Add the hot water and allow to go through the coffee.

IMG_1112.JPG

Allow the water to do it’s job.

Enjoy a great cup of Joe. A sweet and aromatic cinnamon, a great smoothing taste of the cocoa.

Now although it is simple it has some tricky parts. Firstly although it looks simple to upscale the recipe it is not recommended. The cinnamon and the cocoa are fine powders and can clog your filter, especially the paper filters. Just prepare the mixture all at once and the measure about four tbsp for every two cups of water. And you know in general is not good to have the coffee sitting on the hot-plate of the coffee maker for more than 3 mins. Pour it immediately in warm mugs. The cocoa has to be pure and not chemically processed and the cinnamon has to be also fresh and not part of your spice archive for more than six months. I prefer Vietnamese which is sweeter and more cinnamic(?). And do be precise it is cassia and not cinnamon but that ‘s another blog (note: Back them it was the beginning so the whole cassia cinnamon was not discussed in detail. You can find all this info here). Try it it. It is simple, fast and most important delicious.
